The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, more commonly referred to as the Deputy Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs or Minister for Foreign Affairs, is a junior Minister of the Crown responsible for diplomatic relations and affairs relating to the Empire of Great Britain. They are appointed by the Sovereign on the advice of the Prime Minister and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
The role has served many purposes throughout the Empire's history, notably as a Deputy for the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. This role has served a dual purpose, one of which entails training a newer member of the region, in a more junior post, in order to provide them with experience. However, it has also served (especially during the Knightstone Ministries), as a way of supporting a new and less experienced member of Cabinet. At the time of the First and Second Knightstone Ministries, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs was Owain Carew-Grey, Lord Knightstone. He was supported in this role by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (also known as the Minister of State for Regional Status in the First Knightstone Ministry), Sirch Somerset, 2nd Duke of York.
During the First Knightstone Ministry, the position was renamed to Minister of State for Regional Status, with an explicit focus on starting the Empire's transition over from a Stronghold to a Frontier. This position was occupied by Sirch Somerset, 2nd Duke of York.
The first Minister of State for Foreign Affairs was X. The longest-serving Minister of State for Foreign Affairs is X, who held the post for over X days.
