Matthew, Duke of Somerset (Matthew William Michael John; joined 20 March 2020) is a British statesman, parliamentarian, jurist, and Royal who currently serves as a Lord of Parliament. Formerly, he served as the Sovereign of Great Britain, as King William V, Prince of Wales, Prime Minister of Great Britain, Attorney General, Leader of the British Royalist Party, Lord Speaker of the House of Lords, Speaker of the House of Commons, and Member of Parliament.

Prince Matthew resides at Somerset House, a Neoclassical estate and the ancestral seat of the Royal House of Somerset, on the Strand, in London, England. As the Royal Family's Founder, he is the father of Prince Victor, Duke of York and Charles III, father-in-law of Prince Miann, Duke of Edinburgh, son of John, Prince of Wales, and the grandfather of Sirch Somerset, Marquess of Lorne, Tobias, Prince Royal, and William Somerset, 2nd Viscount Douglas. Through the marriage of his second son, he is related to the Carew-Grey Family.

Having been a member of the region for just over four years, the Duke of Somerset is a stalwart and the progenitor of the Empire's modern history. Dubbed the Wilhelmine Era by Elizabeth III, Prince Matthew's Reign was transformative and he is often seen as the region's saviour, being given the epithet of William the Great.

Joining the Empire

Prince Matthew, then known as Matthew Holmes, joined the Empire of Great Britain on 20 March 2020. At this point in the region's history, there were no citizenship laws and no forums, he was accepted into the citizenry by virtue of being a resident.

Early Career

In what would become a cornerstone of the Prince's later works, his first remark when he joined was, "Britain but No House of Lords, sad". [1]
