Duchess of Edinburgh is a title in the Peerage of Great Britain created on 1 March 2023 for Elizabeth Howard-Campbell, formerly Elizabeth Somerset, to celebrate the end of her reign as Queen Elizabeth III. On creating the title, King Edward IX wrote, "[Elizabeth], from her arrival in the region in the fabled summer of 2020, has constantly given her utmost to this great community, whether as a parliamentarian, administrator, or servant of and lately wearer of the Crown." [1] The title is held with Marchioness of Snowdon, Countess of Carnarvon, Viscountess St. James, and Baroness Grey. The dukedom is also held with the position of Head of the Howard-Campbell family and ownership of Arundel Castle and Edinburgh House, their estates, and the liquid assets of the first Duchess by virtue of the entail.
